Patsy Nell Beverly Henderson(Click to enlarge)Memorial services for Patsy Nell Henderson, 74, of Atlanta, Georgia formerly of Kilgore, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2017 at Harmony Pirtle Baptist Church, 12209 US Hwy 259N, Overton, TX, with Ms. Beverly Jenkins as eulogist. Arrangements are under the direction of Willie A. Watkins Funeral Home of Douglasville, Atlanta and Victory Funeral Services in Kilgore, Texas. Patsy was born one of 13 children Saturday, October 17, 1942 to Opal and J. D. Beverly in Kilgore, Texas. She departed this life after a lengthy illness on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia.Patsy was educated at Starr Bailey Elementary School in Kilgore, Texas and attended junior high school in Post, Texas. She graduated in 1961 as Valedictorian from C.B. Dansby High School in Kilgore. As a biology major, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Prairie View A&M College where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society. She ultimately earned a Master’s Degree in Science from Georgia State University. Although Patsy was a long-time resident of Atlanta and school teacher in the Georgia school system she was a native of Kilgore, but prior to her relocation to Georgia she taught junior high and high school in Dickinson, Texas and high school in Winston Salem, North Carolina. She later taught junior high and high school in Marietta and Cobb County, Georgia. Her teaching career as a public school educator spanned 35 years. On March 15, 1967 she was married to Ferdinand Lee Irvin Henderson.  Her parents, her brothers, John David Beverly and Terry Lynn Beverly and her sister Jane Anne Trailer all preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Ferdinand Henderson of Atlanta, GA; her daughter, Beverly Jean Jenkins of Greenville, SC; her sons, Ferdinand Lee Irvin Henderson, II of Atlanta, GA; and Augustus Ojukuwu Henderson and his wife, Patricia Ramsey of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Taylor Henderson and Stephen Henderson, of San Antonio, TX and Julian Henderson, Seven Patsy Le Henderson and Brityn Ramsey of Nashville, TN; her siblings, Donetta Denise Goodall, of Spring, TX; Byron Nelson Beverly and his wife Bessie of Bellwood, IL; Marcia Gene Thompson of Overton, TX; Peggy Ann Brown and her husband Edward of Arlington, TX; Angela Fazenbaker of Houston, TX; Kenneth Wayne Beverly of Houston, TX; Alwilda Adolene Beverly of Houston, TX; Jon Eric Beverly of Sherman, TX; and Lisa Genoise Stafford of New Orleans, LA. She is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews, and 14 great nieces and nephews.There will be no public viewing.
