Mrs. Jo Ann Wheat

Mrs. Jo Ann Alex Wheat (Click on photos to enlarge)Jo Ann was born December 24, 1946 in Kilgore, Texas, the daughter of Sam and Bertha Stanfield Alex. She departed this life on February 28, 2011 at Beacon Hospice in Longview, Texas. Early in life she accepted Christ and was baptized at New Hope Church of Christ where she served until her demise. She attended Kilgore Public Elementary Schools and was member of the Class of 1966 at C. B. Dansby High School. When not enjoying her favorite pastimes of fishing and gardening; she could be found volunteering with Helping Hands, foster children and Turn Around Kilgore Drug Intervention Program. She was united in marriage with Willie Toliver and later on November 10, 1977 she was wed to Josephus Wheat. Her parents, six brothers, Dan, Leroy, Houston, Sam, Robert and Lonnie Alex, four sisters, Ruby Alex, Lizzie Hardy, Georgia Rossum and Emma Brown preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish a beautiful memory to her husband, Josephus Wheat of Overton, TX; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Carol Snoddy and Stevie Taylor of Longview, TX and Francy Ferguson also of Longview, TX; one brother and sister-in-law, Odell and Ethel Alex of Livingston, TX: one sister, Louise Alex of Kilgore, TX; four grandchildren; special friends, Bea Stanfield and Mae Nell Dudley; four stepchildren, Tyrone Wheat of Shreveport, LA; Tonya Pollard of Henderson, TX; Stacy Thompson of Kilgore, TX and Lydia Johnson of Wyoming and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
