Mr. Rodger A. BoardGraveside services for Rodger Allen Board, 75, of Kilgore, will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview, Texas with Rev. David Hampton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.Rodger was born October 14, 1937 to Floyd and Pearl Schwarz Board in Belvidere, Illinois. He departed this life on April 10, 2013 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas.Since relocating from Lake Charles, Louisiana to Kilgore he united with First Baptist Church of Kilgore.He attended Belvidere, Illinois public schools and later served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961.After his military service he became a licensed electrician. His career path ended with retirement after 23 years as a firefighter and chief investigator with the Lake Charles, Louisiana Fire Department. He was a 33rd Degree Mason in the John C. Ayers Lodge in Lake Charles, a member of Shriners International and a member of the Scottish Rite. On February 14, 1986, he married Barbara Cecelia Beavers.He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenneth Board and one brother, Randall Board.Those that remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Board of Kilgore, TX; one daughter, Jodie Milligan of Lubbock, Texas; three sons, Gary Board, Robert Board and Dennis Board all of Lubbock, TX; step-daughter, Pamela Kroon of Hood River, OR; a sister, Becky Nash of Benbrook, TX; two brothers, Ross Board of Holiday, TN and Floyd “Bud” Board, Jr. of Proffer, WA and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Public viewing will be Monday, April 15, 2013, starting at noon with family visitation from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Victory Funeral Services.
