Mr. Jocephus Wheat(Click on thumbnails to enlarge)Jocephus was born on October 30, 1927 to the parentage of Lewis and Roberta Dansby Wheat in Overton, Texas. On Friday, November 25, 2011 he departed this life at his residence to be with the Lord.He attended Rusk County public schools in Overton, Texas. Early in life he united with Harmony Pirtle Baptist Church and later with St. John Baptist Church and ultimately united with and was baptized at New Hope Church of Christ.Prior to retirement he worked at Petrolite, LeTourneau and worked in lawn care service. He was an avid fisherman and served as a member of the drug prevention group “Turn Around Kilgore”. During World War II he served in the  U. S. Army.In 1954, he married Roberta Dudley, who preceded him in death in 1977. One daughter, Lydia Wheat Robinson was born to this union. Later in 1979, he married Mattie Mae Wallace, who also preceded him in death. In 1997, he was married to Jo Ann Alex Toliver until her demise in February, 2011. He and Mae Ella Colbert Kennedy are the parents of three children, Horace Tyrone Colbert, Stacy Colbert and Tonya Colbert Pollard.His parents, three wives, sisters, Katherine Davis and Ruby Mae Ferguson, brothers, James, Henry, Rogers, Claude, Henry Earl, Joe Lewis, Laverne and Wallace Wheat all preceded him in death.He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters and sons-in-law, Lydia and Rev. Cordell Robinson of Winona, TX; Stacy Colbert of Overton, TX; and Tonya and Alan Pollard of Henderson, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Horace Tyrone and Sonya Colbert of Kilgore, TX; a sister, Mary Wilson of Overton, TX; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; special friends, Janie Baton Finney, Doris Potter, Lawrence Oten and William Woodard all of Kilgore; many nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
